Explore UT

We spent the day at Explore UT, an event in which different colleges exhibit the cool things they can do and create. Blake's preschool teacher encouraged us to go because it was the kind of thing he would love, she said, and she was right. Our Saturdays are sometimes more stressful than relaxing, and it was wonderful today for the kids to be entertained and for me not to worry about what I should clean, unload, fold, or prepare.

Rosa from the PBS Kids morning show was there in all her smiley joyfulness. I'm wondering just how sick she is of wearing this fuschia shirt.

We checked out the Austin City Limits stage, which perhaps I liked more than anyone else. Blake would have loved this a couple years ago when he liked to watch concerts on tv. I bribed him with candy to get this picture.

We hooked up with the Hames. It was much easier for both families to drag the boys away from exhibits if we could say we had to follow their buddies.

Lesson learned at this station: Chemical engineers can blow up Diet Coke, catch their arms on fire, and make onions shatter like ice.

This was Blake's favorite place. Remote controlled 'droids' that push balls around a court.

Its hard for a Sooner to have this much fun on UT's campus.

As Blake was walking along with his backpack and a sippy cup, I was struck thinking that he could look a lot like this in 14 years, strutting his stuff on his way to class. Of course, that is assuming he would ditch the sippy cup by then. And maybe not have his name emblazoned all over his backpack.

And after this long day of walking, Dane passed out. This is how we rigged a crib for him during a fun visit to Daddy's Work.
