Lizard Eggs

This week we found an alligator lizard sticking out of a hole in the flower bed. She was kind of a big sucker, for my yard anyway. We stared her down for awhile, and then she took off to hide in a bush. In her little burrow, we saw this:

Eggs! You know what I was thinking -- am I going to have twenty little baby lizards in this flower bed?!

Later I took Brent out to show him our fertile ground. I considered shedding a tear when I discovered the Mommy Lizard had snuggled down in there and covered her eggs back up with dirt. I love a mama's instinct to protect her little babies. God is good!
